Cape Town and the surrounding Western Cape boast a variety of exciting fresh and saltwater fly fishing options for both experienced and novice anglers. From intricate and technical trout streams, to picturesque saltwater estuaries and explosive offshore fishing, Cape Town has it all.
The mountains surrounding the Mother City boast a number of world-class freestone trout streams, which are a dry fly fisherman's paradise. Situated in the mountains above the fruit-farming town of Ceres, expansive Lakenvlei Dam is Cape Town's premier still water trout fishery. It is suitable for float tubing or fly fishing from shore, and holds both brown and rainbow trout.
Nestled in a beautiful remote valley in the Du Toitskloof Mountains lies luxury Fizantakraal Trout Lodge. Guests of this magnificent venue have private and exclusive access to two pristine trout streams and three crystal clear trout dams. The accommodation, food and fishing are simply superb. Fizantakraal Trout Lodge is also utilised for our unique corporate fly fishing events, which incorporate a fun day of fly fishing, food and wine.
On the saltwater side anglers have the choice of fishing any of four productive tidal estuaries that hold a variety of saltwater species, or heading into the waters of False Bay to target hard fighting species such as yellowtail (amberjack) and the ferocious snoek , both of which provide excellent sport on fly and light tackle gear.
For those brave enough to venture into the deep waters off Cape Point, world record yellowfin and smaller longfin tuna await anglers willing to put their stamina and tackle to the test.
